On Tuesday 02 June our guest speakers from the National Trust discussed how it is engaging with its Tenant farmers to deliver its strategy for people & nature to thrive.
Background to the event: In its 2025 to 2035 strategy, the National Trust pledges to support its tenant farmers to be “bigger players in nature recovery and climate resilience, while producing good, healthy food and running sustainable businesses”.
The strategy also recognises that “a healthy natural environment underpins human health including food production” and undertakes to “build even stronger partnerships with farmers, communities, organisations and leaders to improve practice and policy for nature-friendly farming”.
This webinar is now available to watch on demand. It offers an opportunity to understand more about how the National Trust is delivering this in practice. During the event we explored and challenged how the National trust balances its estate management responsibilities and obligations as a landlord with its wider responsibilities for nature, public access and the historic environment within which those farms sit. A particular focus for the webinar was on the work being undertaken with farm tenants on understanding the dynamics around the farm-by-farm management of carbon in the context of a farmed landscape.
