TFA News – Baroness Rock Appointed onto DEFRA New Non-Executive Board

This week, DEFRA announced 3 new non-executive members. Julian Glover, Nick Folland and Baroness Kate Rock have been appointed following a transparent selection process compliant with the government’s governance code.

TFA member, Baroness Rock, was appointed as Chair of The Tenancy Working Group, commissioned by the Environment Secretary to look at the future of agricultural tenancies. The Rock Review, with recommendations to government, was published in October 2022. These DEFRA appointments are effective from 13 May 2024 for Baroness Rock and Julian, and 01 June for Nick.  All terms will last three years and are aimed to bring external expertise to DEFRA’s strategic leadership.

In response to the announcement TFA National Chair, Robert Martin, said: “This appointment is well deserved for Baroness Rock and very much welcomed by the TFA. I believe that she will be a tremendous advocate for the farming community, as well as the tenanted sector of agriculture.
