Waste exemptions are changing and the new rules are expected to become law on 06 January 2027, pending parliamentary approval.

Some farmers and operators will need to change how they work, reduce their waste activity, apply for permits or stop an affected activity. Some changes will have transition periods to allow operators time to comply with the new rules.
