The TFA welcomes the publication of the Farming Roadmap 2050, which provides the clearest long-term vision yet for English agriculture following the UK’s departure from the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy.
Bringing together a range of existing strategies and policies, the Roadmap sets a clear direction of travel for farming, food production and environmental management at a time when farmers face increasing economic, regulatory and environmental pressures.
While its publication is an important milestone for DEFRA, the Roadmap must now mark the end of endless consultations and reviews and the beginning of delivering productive, profitable and practical solutions for farming businesses.
The document covers a wide range of priorities, including regulatory reform, the future development of Environmental Land Management schemes, transformation of the Rural Payments Agency and measures to improve farm profitability.
