TFA Welcomes Seventh Farming Minister in 10 Years

On Friday 12 June, Stephen Morgan MP was appointed Minister of State in DEFRA, following Dame Angela Eagle DBE MP’s move to the Home Office. The TFA has written to the new Minister to welcome him to the role and to request an introductory meeting to discuss issues of immediate importance to the tenanted sector of agriculture.

In the letter, National Chair, Robert Martin, also asked the Minister to establish regular quarterly meetings, a practice maintained by his predecessor, Dame Angela Eagle DBE MP, to ensure that the tenanted sector continues to have a strong voice at ministerial level.

Dame Angela had been due to speak at a TFA member webinar on 30 June, where she was set to discuss future policy for the farming industry. The TFA hopes to reschedule the webinar with Stephen Morgan MP as speaker, later in the year.

The TFA looks forward to building a productive working relationship with the new Minister and will keep members updated on progress.
