Two farming charities, RABI and the Addington Fund, have announced financial support for farming households in England and Wales affected by the prolonged drought.
RABI has committed £2 million through its Emergency Drought Grant Fund. The scheme is being rolled out across five regions, with applications opening in phases at 12 noon each Monday until 5 October. Up to 200 grants of £2,000 are available in each region.
Demand for support has been extremely high, with the first two phases fully subscribed within an hour of opening. Members in the remaining regions (Southeast, East and Midlands) can find further details and application information on the RABI funding page.
For livestock farmers whose ability to feed stock has been affected by the drought, the Addington Fund may be able to provide short-term assistance through a one-off grant towards essential feed costs under its Forage Aid Scheme.
