DEFRA Opens Applications for New Farm Tenancy Forum Co-Chair

Applications have opened for the appointment of a new independent Co-Chair of the Farm Tenancy Forum, the industry advisory group that works with DEFRA on issues affecting agricultural tenancies in England. The successful candidate will share chairing responsibilities with a DEFRA official and will lead Forum meetings, helping to guide discussions from a neutral perspective where members may have differing interests. They will also work with DEFRA officials to agree agendas, papers and a forward programme of work for the Forum. The Forum brings together representatives of tenant farmers, landlords, professional advisers and Government. Its role is to support a thriving and collaborative farm tenancy sector, provide feedback between DEFRA and the tenanted sector and inform the design and delivery of policy and schemes. Candidates must have strong experience in the agricultural tenancy sector, including knowledge of tenancy agreements, legislation, landlord and tenant relationships and the Agricultural Landlord and Tenant Code of Practice for England. They must also be skilled chairs and facilitators able to operate independently of any particular sector interest. The role is for three years, with an expected time commitment of three days per quarter and remuneration of £75 per hour. Applications close at 7pm on 26 July 2026.  For more information and details of how to apply, click here.
