The Duchy of Cornwall is pressing ahead with plans for its rural estate to embrace regenerative farming systems in offering Monkhall Farm, a 950 acre holding in Herefordshire, on a 25 year tenancy. The tenant will be expected to adopt practices that support nature recovery, improve soil health and build long-term resilience by taking a regenerative approach to their farming operations. The tenancy is to be let on a new style regenerative Farm Business Tenancy (rFBT) agreement which the Duchy of Cornwall will be seeking to develop in consultation with the TFA.
TFA Chief Executive, George Dunn, said: “The TFA is delighted that the Duchy of Cornwall is continuing with its long-standing policy of offering long term Farm Business Tenancies. Monkhall Farm represents the first substantial offering from the Duchy under its new regenerative focus. The TFA is pleased to be working with the Duchy in developing its rFBT agreement prior to its official launch at this year’s Groundswell event. Given the size, nature and land-use history of Monkhall Farm, it will be a true test for the Duchy in achieving its regenerative goals. It will require a tenant farmer with the passion and enthusiasm to work positively with the Duchy towards those ends.” To read more about the letting of Monkhall Farm, click here.
